3.27.12

Good Morning Chefs and Buyers,

Call me crazy, but it was 80 degrees last week, right?  Hopefully the weather returning to normal won't scare off customers because West Coast Halibut is here!  We were hoping the arrival would drop the price and we were right.  The price is way down from last week and the fish look terrific.  We have a few 10 to 20 pound fish, but most of them are 20 to 40 pounds each.  Soft-Shell Crabs are available.  We're disappointed in the smaller sizes.  Jumbos are definitely your best bet right now.  Gorgeous Ecuadorian Mahi Mahi came in this morning.  We're being told that big 15 to 20 pound Cobia is available for tomorrow too.

New Jersey sent us lovely 10/20 and U/10 Scallops today.  It looks like Cod is going to be tight for a few days.  The price is also up a bit from last week.  Local Monkfish Tails are fresh and huge today.  Some of them are pushing 9 pounds.  Local Bluefish made an appearance and the fish are about 3 to 4 pounds each.

Maine sent us more Razor Clams that look great.  It looks like Crabmeat is finally back to normal.  We are seeing all varieties.  Fresh 16/20 Gulf Shrimp are amazing as always.  East Coast Canadian Oysters are a problem today because the waters froze over.  Grey Tilefish from North Carolina looks like a nice special option.  The fish are around 4 to 6 pounds each.

Have a great day.
