Wild Edibles Seafood Update

Good Morning Chefs and Buyers,
Today some really nice local John Dory showed up to our door, this fish is priced right and are big enough to produce a great yield. Also arrived in this morning are some monster 25 lb North Carolina red drum fish.  Rumor has it that some Virginia shad are starting to appear, this means the season for their amazing roe is around the corner.  We may have a first shot of it for this weekend so if interested let us know.  The halibut we received today is screaming fresh, good news is the price is starting to come down, this could be a good option for V-day.  Black seabass is sharp this week with prices remaining reasonable.  Local "lemon sole" has been coming to us in rigor form, please we beg you try this fish you won't be disappointed.

-Long Island Wild

WEST COAST:
-Quilcene- WA

We will have a bunch more coming in the end of the week we will update you on. The price of wild striped bass is down but expect it to raise as the demand grows.

Wild Edibles Seafood Update

Good Morning Chefs and Buyers,

Hope everyone is recovering well from the big game last night.  Today we have some wonderful Mahi from the pacific, Florida red grouper is pristine, and, Spanish mackerel arrived in this morning.  Local sword markers landed today and the fish is firm with a bright red blood line, the price is up but the fish is well worth it.  Tuna catches are up and we received some great fish today.  Stripe bass has been landing lack luster catch as we see some smaller fish from MD we believe the fish will be a little difficult to source this week and we will let you know where we stand.

We also have market cod, Chilean turbot, whiting, and, east coast halibut.

Wild Edible Seafood Update

Good Morning Chefs and Buyers,

The news going into the weekend is jumbo black seabass, we received two great shipments one from New Bedford(trap caught) the other from the outer banks in North Carolina(hook and line).  The price of the fish is coming down, hopefully it will drop much like it did last year when both areas were producing stellar fish.  Black Seabass is rated as a good alternative on the sustainability chart.  Go BSB for your weekend specials.  Montauk tile fish is large and looking great today.  East coast halibut is screaming fresh with a smell of deep ocean waters and a slick layer of slime.  Florida fisherman have been hammering red grouper the last few weeks, seems these fish are jumping into boats, they come to us in unreal conditions.

Pemaquid mussels are around for on a limited bases for the weekend, Boston Mackerel are small but lovely, Mahi is an awesome choice, and, Sea daps are around and chubby as ever.

Wild Edibles Seafood Update

Good Morning Chefs and Buyer,
Well we hope you broke out the ice picks and blow torches because this latest storm has really created a mess out their.  We have brought in new local and southern fish that is really spectacular. Up from the dreamy warm weather of the south(sigh!!!!) are wild Cobia from Florida that is sized about 30lbs per fish, Corvina also landed today.  We have a large mako shark off a local Montauk boat, with some Tile from that same port.  Boston Mackerel and Maine shrimp made the snowy trek down from the New Bedford Port.  Pemaquid Mussels and Oyster are back for a limited time.  Maine sand daps are available for those looking for a substitute for lemon sole.

Bare with us today as the airports are shut down and roads are still messy, we will be on a normal schedule but some delays are bound to happen.  Certain products that are being flown in may be on a delay we will let you know if we have any issues.

" In America the ice-storm is an event. And it is not an event which one is careless about. When it comes, the news flies from room to room in the house, there are bangings on the doors, and shoutings, "The ice-storm! the ice-storm!" and even the laziest sleepers throw off the covers and join the rush for the windows."
