3.28.12

Good Morning Chefs and Buyers,

We brought in some terrific items this morning and have more great stuff on the way.  Wild Striped Bass keeps pouring in here everyday.  The fish are nice and big and are out of Delaware and Virginia.  Our buyer tracked down more Local John Dory.  They weight about 3 to 4 pounds and look very fresh.  Jumbo Soft-Shell Crabs are still available.  It doesn't look like any other sizes are going to be around for a while.  Unfortunately, due to high winds in New England, the dayboats are having trouble fishing.  This is driving Cod prices up, but luckily this should just be a temporary problem.

Tomorrow is our weekly shot of Sardines from Portugal.  These delicious treats are always excellent.  Mahi Mahi from Ecuador are about 10 to 15 pounds today and have a great color to them.  Ecuador also sent us super fresh Escolar.  The fish is pretty big, so we will cut you whatever size piece you need.  King Klip from Panama looks like a great choice for a special.

Wild Hiramasa (Amberjack) from North Carolina are 3 to 5 pounds super fresh.  Wild Steelhead from Alaska is available.  We brought in a few fish this morning and they weigh around 8 pounds.  West Coast Halibut's arrival has really flooded the market with fish and driven the price down.  The fish look wonderful and are 10 to 40 pounds.
