8.29.12

Good Morning Chefs and Buyers,

We will be closed this Monday for Labor Day (9/3).  Please plan accordingly.  We still aren't seeing any #2 Tuna.  We do have Local 2+ and #1 available as well as more Local Swordfish.  Wild Striped Bass catches during New York's season have been disappointing.  Fish are available, but we aren't seeing nearly the numbers Massachusetts was producing.  Local John Dory has been available everyday this week and we expect to see more of these 3 pound beauties as the week goes on.

Gloucester Cod look gorgeous this morning.  They range from 10 to 15 pounds and come in head off and already gutted.  U/10 and 10/20 Scallops are coming in tonight from Barnegat Bay, New Jersey.  These are always wonderful.  Jumbo Black Sea Bass remains consistent in both quality and availability.  The fish average about 3 to 4 pounds and come out of Boston.  East Coast Canadian Halibut are coming in daily and are 10 to 40 pounds.

Due to Hurricane Isaac, we are expecting most of our southern items to be tough to come by for a few days.  This will effect Grouper, Red Snapper, Rock Shrimp and 16/20 Fresh Shrimp.  Hopefully this is only temporary.  We will keep you updated as to their availability in the future.  Farm Raised Siberian Sturgeon is available this morning.  They are always great.  Our weekly shot of Sardines from Portugal are on their way here for delivery tomorrow.  Wild King Salmon came in this morning and Coho Salmon will be in tomorrow.  Both come from Alaska.

Have a great day.
