2.8.12

Good Morning Chefs and Buyers,

It's time to start thinking about the weekend and your plans for Valentine's Day.  Valentine's Day is that magical day of the year when everyone is incredibly busy with customers they've never seen before.  Everyone wants to impress that special someone with a nice dinner.  We are planning to be well stocked on all of our standard items.  If you are interested in something special or hard to come by, now is a good time to let us know so we can track it down for you.

We are seeing the first Shad Roe of the season.  It should be available, but please order it ahead of time.  We are set to receive Local Swordfish and Local Tuna tonight.  These fish are caught between North Carolina and New Jersey and are always incredibly fresh.  Wild Striped Bass is still pouring in from Virginia and Maryland.  The nice low price is still holding too.  Our Scallops are in from New Jersey today.  The U/12's are from Barnegat Bay and the 10/20's are from Cape May.  Both look terrific.

Farmed Norwegien Halibut continues to look great.  East Coast Canadian Halibut is available for tomorrow as well.  The Boston Mackerel we were expecting on Tuesday finally showed up.  The fish are around 3/4 of a pound each.  Jumbo Black Sea Bass looks like a can't miss today coming out of Boston.  Each fish is about 3 to 5 pounds.

Our Thursday shipment of Sardines is arriving overnight from Portugal.  We are also expecting to get in more Nantucket Bay Scallops.  Sweet Maine Shrimp should be nice and fresh tomorrow as well.

Florida came through with beautiful Red Snapper today.  They also sent us 16/20 Fresh Gulf Shrimp which are great as always.  Moving a little west, we have delicious Lump and Jumbo Lump Crabmeat from Louisiana.  Heading a even further west, we brought in more of that fantastic Redfish from Texas.  They are averaging 4 to 6 pounds.

"I don't play small.  You have to go out and play with what you have.  I admit I used to want to be tall.  But I made it in high school, college, and now the pros.  So it doesn't matter." - Spud Webb
Today in 1986, 5'7" Spud Webb won the Slam Dunk Contest at the NBA All-Star Game.  He beat his 6'8" Atlanta Hawks teammate Dominique Wilkins for the title.  He is 1 inch shorter than Nate Robinson and is still the shortest player to win the contest.

Have a great day.
